Douglas Gordon & Hélène Grimaud

December 9, 2014–January 4, 2015

Turner Prize-winning artist Douglas Gordon takes the elemental force of water as inspiration for a large-scale visual art installation in which acclaimed pianist Hélène Grimaud will perform a program of water-themed works by Debussy, Ravel, Liszt, and others, creating a confluence of live music and visual art that allows audiences to experience this celebrated music in a refreshingly new way. The installation will be open to the public in addition to performance times for further reflection.

image still: FKA twigs - how's that

FKA twigs has announced details of her much-anticipated debut album, LP1. The London-based producer, singer, songwriter and video director will release LP1 on August 12th, 2014 via Young Turks.

LP1 is FKA twigs defining artistic statement to date, building on the success of her two previous EPs and accompanying videos ('EP1' and 'EP2'), which have elevated FKA twigs from a word-of-mouth secret to global obsession over the past two years. LP1 features none of these previously released songs; instead each track on LP1 is brand new, born out of FKA twigs' artistic philosophy of spontaneous creation and collaboration in the studio.

LP1 also features artwork from Jesse Kanda, who has manipulated his own photographs of twigs to stunning effect. Kanda previously directed the acclaimed videos for FKA twigs' 'Water Me' and 'How's That' songs.

OUT OF HAND: MATERIALIZING THE POSTDIGITAL

"In today’s postdigital world, artists are using these means to achieve levels of expression never before possible – an explosive, unprecedented scope of artistic expression that extends from sculptural fantasy to functional beauty.  'Out of Hand' will be the first major museum exhibition to to consider the impact of these new, revolutionary methods of computer-assisted manufacture on fine art, design, and architecture, and will introduce the public to the imaginative expression that these emerging processes enable."
